Our software engineers use Claude Code, Codex, and custom AI agents daily to ship production code that controls real machines, data pipelines, UIs and everything in between. We're also building the factory for AI-driven development itself: reusable skills, subagents, MCP servers, and validation harnesses that let a deliberately small team generate, test, and deploy factory software at a pace that would normally require a team five times the size. We are increasingly investing more and more into testing and validation. Because everything we build is internal software, the feedback loop is measured in hours. You ship something, walk onto the factory floor, and see how it performs. That speed compounds fast with AI tools. The role looks more like managing a fleet of AI agents than traditional software engineering. The bottleneck is taste and judgment — deciding what to build from a long list of high-impact options — rather than typing speed. We haven't figured it all out.
